Privacy and personal data
You can use Andromede with a nickname and without compulsory registration. Share only the information you want others to see. This page explains how the service works and what choices you have about your data.
Andromede does not sell your data and does not share your conversations or personal details with third parties for commercial purposes.
Public and private conversations
Messages in public rooms can be read by everyone in them. They are kept temporarily and may appear in the history kept by the service, so do not post sensitive information in a public room. Private messages are not published on the site's pages.
The connection to the servers uses TLS. This protects messages while they travel over the network; it is not end-to-end encryption.
Account and connection data
If you create an account, the service uses the data needed to sign in and recover access, such as your email address. The nickname and description you choose are visible to other users. The IP address of your connection is used to run, secure and moderate the service.
Settings and friends list
The chat keeps your settings, favourite rooms, friends and blocks in the local storage of your browser or app. Without an account, these lists belong to the device. With an account, friends and blocks are synced with your user settings, with a local copy in case the network drops for a moment.
If you clear your browser data, the local copy disappears. Signing out changes the active list and keeps the account's copy for next time. Avoid keeping these lists on a device you share with others.
Counters for running the site
The site keeps aggregate counters to detect problems when opening the chat and connecting. These counters do not store nicknames, message content or visitor identifiers; they are separate from the servers' technical logs.
This measurement does not set cookies; the totals are kept for 90 days and are not passed to outside services.
Outside services
Some pages show Google AdSense ads. The site-wide search on the French version of the site uses Google services. These services may process browsing data under their own policies; the search for English rooms runs on the site itself.
Questions and requests
If you have a question about your data, or want to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, write to contact@andromede.net. Include what we need to find your account or the problem, but never send your password. More information is on the contact page.
