Rules for chatting with respect
Andromede brings together people who want to talk, meet new people and share their interests. These rules apply in the rooms and in private messages, together with each room's own guidelines and its moderators' instructions.
Access to the chat
Access to the Andromede network is not a right but a privilege, which depends on accepting these rules. By using the service, you accept that your connection may be port-scanned when you connect. The Andromede team reserves the right to check any conversation that takes place on the network, in order to protect the most vulnerable users.
Respect for others
Insults, threats, harassment, discrimination and constant provocation are not allowed. You can disagree with someone's opinion without attacking the person who holds it. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not claim to speak for the site's team.
Privacy and consent
Do not post other people's personal details, intimate photos or private conversations without their consent. Ask before writing to someone in private, and accept it when someone does not reply or wants to end the conversation. Blocking is a legitimate choice, not an invitation to look for the person under another nickname.
Content and use of the service
Do not send spam, repeated advertising, misleading links, harmful files or messages meant to disrupt the conversation. Respect copyright and add a few words to explain a link. Rooms must not be used to facilitate crimes or to spread illegal content.
Adult rooms
Rooms marked “Adults · 18+” are only for people aged 18 and over. Sexual content involving minors, intimate material shared without consent and pushy requests are forbidden. Adult topics have their own place and do not belong in general rooms. The Dating and Flirt rooms are not adult rooms: explicit content has no place there.
Moderation and reports
Follow the moderators' instructions and stick to the room's topic. If someone breaks the rules, you can block them and report them to the team, in the #support room of the chat or through the contact page. Describe the context and the approximate time, without sending intimate material or unnecessary personal details.
A community we build together
Welcome newcomers, explain an expression when someone does not know it and leave room for every kind of English, from Glasgow to Sydney, and for people who are still learning it. If you would like to suggest a get-together or to help, see the contact page.
